Insight: Observations and Tips for Success
Know the Why of Your Decisions!
Often, when we are about to make a decision, we act without examining what might be driving the decision. We need to know not just what we are deciding but also why.
It's good to know if the person you are recommending or hiring reflects what you need. Or, is that new hire or partner merely reflecting your ideas, or is he or she adding?
You have to know yourself pretty well to know what's driving your decisions and choices. When you connect decisions to values and priorities, the why isn't scary.
If you are ignoring good information from reliable sources because it doesn't fit your conclusions, you might be confusing your all-in commitment with your stubbornness.
Decision making defines us, more than we might like to admit. Are we feeding the goal or feeding the ego? Are we listening, or are we doing all the talking?
The better we know ourselves, the better our judgement serves us. Our vision of the future tells us how to act in the present. Knowing why confirms your vision.
